Estafet Open will help you define your specification for a Tester and prioritise the skills required.

Testers will require different skills dependant upon the development methodology followed and the team size. For example an Iterative development would require each Tester to have some level of development capability so that they can work earlier on in the development with a development team and be testing within the first iteration
